We are a Martial Arts School that still holds to the traditional value of belt tests. “Promotions” are an assumption of moving up in rank while “Testing” means that each student must bring their best effort and knowledge to the mat the day that they are being asked to test for their next rank.
In a world where our society places a lot of value on the concept of “if you do not feel like it, you do not have to do it”. We strive to break past that and encourage and empower each of our students to push, to grow, to try hard and give their best. We do not set up our students to fail, but we do not just hand them their belts either. Anything worth doing is worth doing well and with full effort. When a student earns a belt through Empower Martial Arts, they bow off the mat knowing that they had to work for it. They had to come to class, they had to practice at home, they had to put the time in to see the results of their actions and dedication.
I am always asked, “how does Martial Arts teach students to have better character and discipline?” This is just one of many ways that martial arts teaches character, good work ethic and strength and confidence in one's own ability. Martial Arts is a wonderful sport or way of life the will only give out what each individual puts in.
You’ve got this. But you have to do the work for it!
